The Enemy
Thursday, February 22, 2001 I've noticed that since I've become one of "them" ("them" being the vast multitude of mobile phone users), I've become much more tolerant of my new found brethren. I used to fume when I saw someone idly talking on the phone while walking down the street, I now realize that that could be me! When someone's phone rings on the el, I no longer glare at them for I know I have the power to also receive calls while riding mass transit. I noticed this change in my perception the day after I got my phone. I was in a diner eating lunch last Friday when I saw on the tv that the US has bombed iraq. I couldn't really hear the program, since the volume was too low, and as it occurred to me that Kyle might not know this breaking bit of news, I nearly took out my phone and called him. I was horror struck that I almost did what I despise most, I almost made a frivolous phone call while sitting in a restaurant. Granted, it was only a diner and this was breaking news, but still. I didn't make the call, although I did connect to My Yahoo and download a news bulletin on the story so I could find out just what was happening. Ah, now that is power! posted at 12:22 PM . link to this post . 0 Comments: |
