The Great Brain
Saturday, March 13, 2010  Growing up, I was a reader. A voracious reader. A you're-going-to-ruin-your-eyesight, under-the-covers-with-a-flashlight kind of reader. I loved reading and I loved stories and I loved the artwork, when a book was blessed to have some. I think the original hardcover copy I had of this was gifted to my brother Michael, but it was I who devoured it and the subsequent six "Great Brain" books. Who wouldn't like a series that starts out describing the installation of the first water closet in Utah and the genius kid who hatches a plan to charge all the other kids 1ยข to see it in action? Hello? Reading these kinds of books are what childhood is made of. The Great Brain books were written by John D. Fitzgerald and illustrated by Mercer Mayer.
