The prophesy foretells the end of the world, period. Not, "the-end-of-the-world-except-for-a-ragtag-group-of-survivors-who-must-now-learn-to-deal-with-their-circumstances-and-live-in-a-world-now-foreign-to-them." End of the world is, well, the end of the world.
